H2Hub · For steel, refining, chemicals and other industrial hydrogen users

7 questions before you commit to green hydrogen supply.

Test a supply concept against your real demand: how much it costs delivered to your gate, how steadily it arrives, and how it compares with what you pay now.

    01

What does your process actually need?

Start with tonnes per day, the hours you need it, and your site location. Purity, pressure and backup requirements come from your own operations team. H2Hub records them so the supply concept is tested against real demand.

    02

Can variable power meet continuous demand?

A furnace or reactor runs around the clock. Wind and solar don't. H2Hub's 8,760-hour model shows the hours an electrolyser produces and the hours it doesn't, which tells you how large the storage or backup question really is.

    03

What does it cost at your gate?

Plant-gate cost is only half the story. H2Hub calculates delivered cost by route: onsite, pipeline, truck or as ammonia.

    04

At what price does it beat what you use now?

The "Could buyers switch?" tool calculates the power price at which green hydrogen matches the cost of the hydrogen you buy or make today.

    Worked example · modelled demonstration

$5.60/kg at the plant gate against a $4.50/kg target.

    Plant-gate hydrogen cost$5.60/kg
    Target hydrogen price$4.50/kg
    Gap before delivery$1.10/kg

The gap is $1.10/kg before delivery. Ask any supplier what power price and utilisation their offer assumes.

Illustrative worked example: 100 MW PEM + 200 MW wind, 53.7% utilisation, $55/MWh power, ~$1,100/kW capex.
    05

    What breaks the supply case?

Stress tests show whether power price, utilisation or capex moves the delivered cost most, so you know which supplier claim to check first.

    06

    What does H2Hub not answer?

H2Hub models hydrogen supply. It does not design the integration into your plant: DRI shaft or furnace changes, metallurgy, refinery unit changes or process safety. Those need specialist engineering. H2Hub helps you arrive at that work with a defined supply case.

    Before you begin

    A few reasonable questions.

Do I need to be developing a project myself?

No. You can use H2Hub to test a supplier's offer, or to decide whether to build onsite or buy.

Does H2Hub cover steel process conversion?

No. It covers the hydrogen supply side only. Plant integration remains specialist engineering work.

Is a favourable result a supply guarantee?

No. It shows what has to be true for the supply case to work, so you know what to ask for in contracts.
