    Executive Summary

Hydrogen trade today is dominated by short-haul intra-European flows in pipelines and tube trailers — long-distance seaborne trade is still a rounding error.

    Engineering Insight

Most tonnes move as-is (pipeline gas), not as ammonia or LOHC. The cost of conversion + reconversion still sinks the trans-oceanic business case.

    Market Insight

Regional trading blocs (NW-Europe, NE-Asia) are the near-term game; oceanic corridors will require a decade of capex before they scale.

    Investment Insight

Pipeline-connected clusters are the safest offtake bets. Bet on carriers only alongside a signed cracking + reception terminal.
